Advanced Material Analysis and Application Study using Neutron and X-ray Imaging Fusion Technology

PI

A convergent study that utilizes advanced radiation-based (neutron and X-ray) image fusion technologies to propose structural analysis and application potential of novel materials, contributing to next-generation NDT and high-performance material research. We develop multi-modal image registration, restoration, and resolution enhancement techniques, performing quantitative analysis of microstructures by integrating phase, dark-field, and absorption contrast information.

Design of Robot-Based Irradiation Table forHorizontal and Vertical Beam Targets

PI

Based on 6-DOF posture control technology for precise radiation irradiation, we design an intelligent robot irradiation table for medium-sized animals applicable in both horizontal and vertical beam environments. By applying RF noise shielding tech for high-energy accelerator environments and a Hexapod-based hybrid driving mechanism, the project aims to compensate for microscopic errors during experiments, thereby significantly improving the reliability and reproducibility of pre-clinical radiation research data.

Participating Projects

Energy Tech University (ETU)

Co-PI

As part of the regional nuclear industry-based Energy Tech University (ETU) project, we foster practical talents and strengthen regional innovation ecosystems through specialized energy/nuclear education and industry-academia cooperation. Our lab participates in designing radiation imaging & data fusion curricula, field-training projects, and joint tasks with regional enterprises.

Nuclear Manpower Training Program

Co-PI

Aimed at cultivating professional talents in next-generation nuclear and radiation fields, we conduct core basic/applied education, research equipment utilization training, and field problem-solving projects. We build a convergent education-research framework encompassing imaging physics, computational imaging, and data science to strengthen practical competencies meeting industry demands.

NPP Decontamination & Decommissioning

Co-PI

For the safe decontamination and decommissioning of radioactive facilities and structures, we research non-destructive radiation imaging-based condition assessment, quantitative diagnosis of contaminated/degraded areas, and image recognition & robotics linkage technologies for remote/automated processing. We aim to establish a data-driven decision support system targeting reliability in low-dose environments and improved field applicability (speed, accuracy, operability).
